Starting on 5 January 2023 everyone aged 12 and over who depart from China comprising Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test, conducted within 48 hours of leaving. There are exemptions for transiting passengers as well as medical reasons.
The COVID-19 test you take must be one of:
A negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain reaction (PCR) or another Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) test that is conducted within 48-hours prior to the date of your scheduled departure or
An inconclusive Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted with the guidance of an authorized person within 48 hours in advance of the day of departure you are scheduled to leave.

If you're on a Qantas operated flight, and you've had a previous COVID-19 virus infection, you may be eligible to apply for a medical certificate based upon a prior positive diagnosis, provided that you're not currently infected and do not show any signs.
